Dawn's Story

After giving birth to my daughter in 1999, I suffered chronically from internal hemorrhoids and was told nothing could be done for it. But a friend recommended abdominal massage, and after one session, all of my symptoms subsided. So I set out to learn this new modality so I could help my clients.

I have traveled extensively taking Abdominal Therapy courses from anatomy expert Marty Ryan in addition to other teachers specializing in Visceral Manupulation and Chi Ne Tsang.

I began my career as a massage therapist in 2005 as a graduate from the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville NC. I also hold a BA in English from Penn State, 1990.

Desiring to help my clients achieve optimum health, I completed a 9-month apprenticeship at Owlcraft Healing Ways in 2015 and earned a certificate in Food, Nutrition, and Health in 2017.

I also hold certificates in Shiatsu, hot stone therapy, reflexology, visceral dynamics,  preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum massage therapy as well as childbirth education and pregnancy yoga. I continue my education at every opportunity.

My husband and I co-own Rivanna Cryotherapy Recovery Center.
